Barracuda Networks : 22 May, 2008  (New Product)
Spam gateway for prevention of unwanted spam available for large scale internet service providers without user based licensing charges
Barracuda Networks has launched the Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other large organisations with up to 100,000 concurrent email users and 5,000 domains in a single appliance. Available at £60,749 with no per user licensing fees, the Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 is the most affordable high capacity email gateway appliance available for service providers and other organisations hosting large volumes of email.

"With the continued performance gains and energy efficiencies of modern computing technologies, the timing was right to deliver an even higher capacity solution in a compact form factor for our largest service provider and enterprise customers," said Stephen Pao, vice president of product management for Barracuda Networks. "The Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 enables these customers to effectively handle the continuing increases in worldwide spam volume as well as reduce other operational costs in the data centre."

The Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000, which comes in a 2U full size form factor, includes 200 GB message log storage and 750GB storage capacity for quarantined messages, thus delivering the largest quarantine storage capacity available for large enterprises. In addition, the Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 features advanced capabilities including redundant hot swap power supplies, and dual gigabit Ethernet ports. Multiple Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 models can be clustered for both scalability and redundancy.

Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 orders in the US will be accepted starting this week and will begin shipping in June. The Barracuda Spam Firewall 1000 is priced at £60,749 for the appliance and £16,399 per year for subscription to the Energize Update service. International pricing and availability varies based upon region.
