Health record data protection partner program

Fair Warning : 06 August, 2009  (Company News)
Patient snooping and electronic health record identity theft prevention is the aim of the partner program launched by FairWarning
FairWarning has announced a certification program that empowers value-added resellers (VARs) and professional service organizations with the ability to deploy, service and resell FairWarning privacy monitoring solutions. The FairWarning-Ready Solution Partner Program has been developed to further fulfill the market demand for automating compliance with the ARRA HITECH privacy provisions and ensuring patient privacy by curtailing record snooping and identity theft by authorized users of electronic health records (EHRs). FairWarning is teaming with Sun Microsystems and Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of Avnet to bring these solutions to VARs in the global healthcare market with an initial focus on the US and Canada.

"Launching our solution partner program with the support of Avnet for distribution and market enablement, and scale of Sun Microsystems' technology, provides FairWarning with the capability to service the world's most sophisticated healthcare organizations," said Shane Whitlatch, senior vice president of global alliances at FairWarning. "We are equally excited to announce best-of-class, US-based FairWarning-Ready Solution Partners: Creative Breakthroughs, CynergisTek, Emtec, Groupware Technology, Laurus Technologies, and Open Technologies as founding members of the FairWarning-Ready Solution Partner Program."

'FairWarning's solution partner program is timely and valuable for helping the healthcare industry achieve compliance,' said Casey Palowitch, director of business development and systems engineering at Sun Microsystems. 'This program gives IT solution providers an easy way to introduce Sun's scalable and reliable systems combined with FairWarning's privacy surveillance application to their service offerings, while helping more healthcare organizations make the transition to this new era of technology. At the same time, FairWarning is key to growing our 'eHealth' business. Avnet resellers will be among the first to be trained on Sun's and FairWarning's joint value proposition, because Avnet has provided them with the in-depth training, tools and resources needed to be successful in the healthcare market. For our healthcare clients, FairWarning is now one of the leading options on all projects where CIOs and top management are looking to ensure security and privacy while saving costs and enabling anytime, anywhere access to information.'

"Given the US government's commitment to the use and safeguarding of electronic health records, there is a tremendous need for privacy solutions that protect patients from identity theft and medical record intrusion," said David Hutchinson, director of healthcare solutions, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas. "Avnet's HealthPath practice educates VARs on the market opportunities and unique issues surrounding privacy monitoring solutions for the healthcare market. Through our relationships with FairWarning and Sun, Avnet HealthPath channel partners can access best-in-class privacy monitoring solutions that will help pave the way for their customers to safely adopt electronic health records."

"Our customers are dealing with increased regulatory scrutiny of inappropriate access to PHI, dramatic increases in data volume, and fewer hospital resources with which to monitor and respond," said Dave Durbin, executive vice president at Laurus Technologies. "FairWarning has the most robust and comprehensive healthcare privacy surveillance solution on the market today, and we are thrilled to be able to offer a solution that has such significant impact on patient privacy."
