HDD Manufacturer Parterns With DES For Disk Protection

Data Encryption Systems (DES) : 16 February, 2011  (Application Story)
DESlock+ licences will be supplied for system protection to purchasers of CnM Core external hard disk drives
Data Encryption Systems (DES) has announced a new partnership with CnM, an up and coming consumer electronics and CCTV security brand. This partnership means that customers who purchase a CnM CORE external Hard Disk Drive (HDD), will now be issued with a complimentary licence for DESlock+. This will enable customers to encrypt their folders, files, and removable drives in order to protect against any data breaches or loss of data. Retailers who will be distributing CORE include The Hut, Maplin Electronics, Ebuyer, Misco and PC World.

DESlock+ helps organisations to protect against all types of data breach by offering simple, yet extremely powerful, encryption of documents, folders, disks and removable storage media, and computer systems. The solution is both Windows 7 compatible and FIPS 140-2 approved. DESlock+’s unique key sharing technology lets users share encrypted data seamlessly, while full disk encryption takes care of compliance issues, protecting against the fall-out from lost or stolen computers.

The CnM CORE HDD is available in both portable and external versions and is suited to either a USB2 or high-speed USB3 connection. The external drives are very cost-effective and are ideal for both home and business use and with a capacity of up to 3TB, customers can store over one million photos or over a year’s worth of music with ease. CnM CORE portable hard drives are available in capacities of up to 500GB and facilitate easy storage and mobility with their USB connection portals.

“I’m delighted that this partnership means we are able to offer CnM customers DESlock+. There have been a number of very public and embarrassing high level incidents over the last couple of years and today organisations are now making sure that employees take personal accountability for data security. If data is found to be leaked or lost, these organisations will not only experience reputational damage but it is highly likely that the breach will impact on revenue and they could even lose customers. These data breaches can so easily be prevented.” comments David Tomlinson, Managing Director for DES.

David Tomlinson continues: “We believe that once organisations experience this easy to use and simple, yet highly effective, encryption software they will consider protecting all their hard disks and PCs with DESlock+.”

CnM believes that the CORE HDD will be an even stronger offering with the inclusion of DESlock+ and that the partnership will further position its product as a prominent leader in the market:

“Our Hard Disk Drive is tipped to storm the UK market, and if it’s launch is anything to go by; that’s exactly what will happen. By bundling DESlock+ with our external hard disk drive this will help us to further penetrate the market because we will be providing our customers with an extremely powerful data encryption tool on top of a super-fast storage device.” Craig Gore, Product Manager for CnM.
