Handheld biometric credential reading system on show in Florida show

Cross Match Technologies will be demonstrating the full credential reading options now available on its Seek Avenger mobile handheld during the Biometric Consortium Conference taking place this week in Tampa, Florida.

Designed to provide immigration, customs, border control, and law enforcement and security personnel a truly rugged, portable, and assured identification solution, the Seek Avenger incorporates a smartcard reader with options to read and validate all ICAO electronic travel documents.

“With over 100 countries issuing a total of nearly 500 million passports since 2006, and numerous large scale biometric-enabled national ID programs rolling out worldwide, there is a growing need for reliable, trusted mobile credential reader technology,” said John Hinmon, senior vice president of marketing for Cross Match.  “Our latest multimodal handheld was designed as a complete solution for the mobile application of these use cases.”

Cross Match handheld business line Vice President, Dan Troutman, added, “Seek Avenger incorporates the latest FBI-certified biometric capture technologies with the ability to read and validate secure electronic credentials.  Matching live biometrics with those stored in the credential, and also matching them both to the biometrics stored in a local watchlist, provides the strongest basis for identification when security is paramount.  The device is a unique solution suited to a range of homeland security, law enforcement, and military challenges.”

Launched in May of this year, the Seek Avenger offers state-of-the-art biometric sensor technology that enables fingerprint and stand-off dual iris image capture in direct sunlight. A range of secure credential reader and communication options, and biometric matching against a 100,000 or optional 250,000 record onboard watchlist, are just a few of the capabilities available in this 3.2 lbs (1.4 kg) device.
