Half day event examines retail security design

BCSC : 25 February, 2009  (Company News)
Design principles for the security of retail premises in London to be explored in half day seminar organised by the BCSC
Designing and Managing Better Security into the Next Generation of Retail Destinations
Tuesday 17 March 2009, 0930 - 1400 No 4 Hamilton Place, London, WIJ 7BQ

Emerging Local Development Frameworks may be expected to incorporate specific counter-terrorism provisions that will impact directly on the design of shopping centres and other retail destinations. A UK Government consultation document is shortly to be launched.

The City of London has recently adopted new design principles which are required to be incorporated into planning applicants' Design & Access statements. Now other Local Authorities are considering their planning policies in view of their obligation ' ...as part of their performance framework, to assess the measures they have taken to protect against terrorism' (Gordon Brown).

The implications for new retail developments are set to be considerable. Will you be ready?

BCSC has assembled a panel of expert speakers from the Home Office, RIBA, NaCTSO, City of London Corporation and D.J. Goode Associates, to explore the issues and practical solutions at a seminar to be held at No.4 Hamilton Place, London, 09.30 - 14.00 on Tuesday 17 March 2009.

Bookings are open to BCSC members at £75.00 + VAT and
non-member at £95.00 + VAT
