Guest room locks and access management system for Premier Inn

UK hotel chain chooses retrofit electronic locks from Kaba with hotel access management system for its South Shields hotel
With 500 hotels across the UK, Premier Inn is the UK's biggest hotel chain that continually looks to improve their guest's overall experience of their stay while controlling costs and ensuring that their guests feel secure at all times.

During a recent upgrade at the Premier Inn, South Shields, it was decided to replace the existing guest room door locks with Kaba E-760 locks in an elegant satin-chrome finish. 79 doors were retrofitted to provide Premier Inn a lock that is loaded with security and audit features, designed with security and comfort in mind and of solid and reliable construction.

Premier Inn chose to manage the guest room door locks using Kaba's ATLAS system, which is integrated into the hotels specifically designed check-in kiosks. A Remote Access Control reader (RAC) was installed at the hotel's main entrance to provide a comprehensive, effective and highly reliable access management system throughout the whole building.

Kaba's ATLAS (Advanced Technology Lodging Access System) provides a web based interface that allows for simple and easy programming of guest room doors. The menu-driven software provides on-screen help so that operators can resolve issues quickly and offers the facility for operators to work in the language of their choice.

Kaba was awarded the project due to the simplicity and efficiency of the entire system, both to install and manage. The decision to install Kaba's E760 solution has made the day to day logistics of running the hotel a lot smoother and provides peace of mind for hotel staff, the guests and their belongings.

General Manager Sarah Steele commented, "Having recently gone through a refurbishment and restaurant renovation, it's great to have a contractor that is so pro-active and provides such a high level of customer service. Kaba have a great work ethic and were really helpful, very clean and tidy and couldn't do enough to assist us in the roll out of the new locks. Kaba worked non stop to ensure minimal disruption and were very pleasant throughout".
