GSM paging system gains wide early acceptance.

Bold Communications : 03 May, 2007  (New Product)
GSM alarm transmitter from Bold Communications deployed across a diverse range of applications including CCTV monitoring and empty property protection.
Bold Communications has always been well-known in the central station market, providing quality control room equipment world-wide. Now, with the launch of their GSM alarm transmitter, Bold has gained access to several new and interesting markets.

The GSM Pager is a 4-input communications module which transmits signals over the mobile phone network. In the event of an alarm the module can call and/or send texts to up to four mobile phones. The Pager can also transmit Contact ID to an alarm receiver in an ARC, providing an inexpensive alternative to traditional central station products.

The Pager comes in three forms, making for an incredibly versatile solution. In its simplest form, the device transforms existing audible alarm systems into cost-effective monitored systems. With a boxed PSU, and armed/disarmed via DTMF, the Pager can provide a simple, standalone unit. Alternatively, a power-save kit is available, providing a temporary alarm solution for sites with no electricity and no mains power.

The device's versatility makes it suitable for a number of applications, and the Pager is currently transmitting CCTV alarms, protecting void property and monitoring stables.

One of the more unusual customers is Concept Smoke Screen, who manufacture and install market-leading security smoke systems to defend against burglaries. Recently Concept have added the RAPID security smoke system to their repertoire. The RAPID was developed in response to customer demand for a temporary, rapid-deploy smoke screen solution for high risk sites. The RAPID was designed, and was very effective. The only problem Concept were presented with was that no one would know if the device had been activated. GSM signalling seemed the perfect solution.

Matt Gilmartin, sales manager at Smoke Screen commented "customer demand resulted in the need for a simple GSM transmitter. We found Bold's device on the web and got one on trial. The Pager is incredibly easy to set up and install. It's not rocket science and the unit can be ready to use in half an hour. The Pager has really added value to our RAPID system, and the device is nominated for an award at IFSEC this year".

Brian Kelly, MD at Bold said "As Concept have shown the Pager's popularity lies in its versatility. It provides a simple, reliable and user-friendly signalling solution for a number of applications. We wish Concept all the best at the IFSEC awards, and are glad to have helped them on their way".
