Government IPv6 certification for video conferencing system

Tandberg Data : 10 October, 2008  (New Product)
IPv6 video conferencing endpoints from Tandberg receive compliance certification for use in US federal government applications
Tandberg is the first video conferencing vendor with a full range of video conferencing solutions to be Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) certified by the Federal government. Tandberg's endpoints and infrastructure provide a total solution that complies with the Federal mandate announced in June 2008 requiring agencies to adopt IPv6-enabled products and services as a core element of their current and future IT strategies. The new protocol is designed to enable interoperability and high levels of security across government communications.

"Video conferencing technology enables quicker decision-making and allows for real-time, mission-critical collaboration - essential in today's fast-paced Federal government," said Joel Brunson, president, Tandberg Federal. "Federal agencies can rest assured that Tandberg's extensive portfolio provides scalable video conferencing solutions to better enable effective and secure communications."
Today, most of the Internet runs on the previous version of Internet protocol, IPv4, which is becoming increasingly inadequate as the Federal government requires a more secure and robust network. IPv6 enables faster inter- and intra-agency collaboration and net-centric communications, with a greater emphasis on security and agility.

Tandberg is the only provider of video communication applications to support the next-generation protocol for all video infrastructure and endpoints. In addition, Tandberg has the capability to run IPv4 and IPv6 simultaneously, which offers greater flexibility for agencies as they transition to the new protocol.

While Tandberg was recently certified by the Federal government, IPv6 has been supported by Tandberg products since 2006.
