Gaming Customers Continue To Take Digital Video Recording Solutions From Synectics

Synectics : 18 February, 2011  (Application Story)
With 75 gaming and casino facilities registered as its customers, Synectics is making an impact on the gaming industry with digital video surveillance recording solutions with integrated video management serving the unique business requirements of the industry

75 gaming properties worldwide have purchased Synectics' enterprise-class digital recording solution. With its award-winning video management and integration platform, Synergy, Synectics records over 40,000 cameras in casinos throughout North America, Canada and Europe with an impressive 99.999% uptime performance record. This 75-customer milestone confirms Synectics' track record of supplying reliable, scalable and cost-efficient surveillance systems for the gaming industry. The company's unique non-proprietary hardware and software enables existing legacy analogue systems to integrate with IP-based technology as well as third party applications including slot management, point of sale, people counting, and access control, to create a unified video managementand security solution.

"It's exciting to see our company and product so quickly and widely embraced by casino operators," said John Katnic, Chief Operating Officer of Synectics. "Our formula for success has been surprisingly simple ... to focus our resources on innovative technologies, cultivate a few talented resale partnerships, and understand our core gaming customers (and their unique business needs) very well. In challenging economic conditions, in an industry dominated by corporate giants, it's rewarding to know that old fashioned fundamentals-like reliable products, good people, and listening to your customers-still works."

Recently completed installations include ACEP's Stratosphere Casino (Las Vegas), Pinnacle Entertainment Group's Belterra Casino (IN) and 4 Bears Casino (ND). Ongoing installations include a six-property digital conversion at Oneida (WI), El Dorado Shreveport (LA) and several system expansions in Louisiana, Pittsburgh and Indiana.

Major 2011 Synectics projects will include five installations for Penn National Gaming, one of Synectics long-standing corporate customers. Hollywood Casinos in Tunica (MS) and Charlestown (WV) will upgrade to digital and three brand new Penn casinos in Ohio and Kansas are slated to install Synectics once construction is complete. Since 2004, Synectics has forged a successful partnership with the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation who has deployed Synectics in over 20 casinos and racetracks. Synectics will be going into the OLG's Western Fair Raceway, Fort Erie Race Track, Windsor Raceway and Woodbine Racetrack this year. Woodbine is replacing its original Synectics system installed in 2005 and is the first among many OLG sites that will upgrade to H.264 recording, introduce high definition IP cameras, reduce system footprint and energy requirements and integrate to third party systems like point-of-sale in coming years.

In addition to Penn Gaming, OLG, Pinnacle Entertainment and ACEP, other Synectics' corporate customers include Hyatt Gaming Corporation, Bluhme Development Group and leading Native American casinos like Seneca Nation Casinos (NY), Spirit Mountain Casino (OR), Seven Feathers Casino (OR), Paragon Casino & Resort (LA), Menominee Casino & Bingo (WI) and Sandia Resort Casino (NM).

For 25 years, Synectics has been designing security networks for the world's most demanding environments. Synectics systems are highly reliable with redundant failover and layered protection. Hot swap Synergy servers monitor system health and automatically failover drives, encoders, storage servers, network devices, etc. to minimize downtime. Camera failover can be prioritized so cash cages and interview room cameras, for example, are hot swapped before parking lot shots. All recording is maintained in a video database so operators can retrieve and seamlessly play back video from original and hot swapped servers without maintaining manual logs. Network design is intentionally simple both to eliminate any single point of colossal failure and to minimize maintenance complexity.

Synectics' digital recording systems are easy to use and maintain, yet provide sophisticated data management and reporting features. Unlimited cameras and storage capacity, motion picture quality video, flexible integration to third party systems, exceptional reliability, the most user-friendly interface available, and comprehensive management tools make Synectics' surveillance solutions ideal for the tightly regulated gaming industry.
