Free Secure File Sharing App For the iPad and iPhone

Accellion : 27 October, 2011  (New Product)
Accellion mobile app provides Apple mobile users with file sharing security and control with protected editing mode
Free Secure File Sharing App For the iPad and iPhone
Accellion announces Mobile Apps for iPad and iPhone with support for iOS 5 that provide secure mobile file sharing capabilities.  The Accellion Mobile App offers the industry’s first encrypted, protected container for mobile file sharing, including 128-bit AES data encryption for files locally saved on a mobile device, and additional features for enterprise users and IT and security teams. The Accellion Mobile App is currently available for download from the Apple App Store.

The Accellion Mobile App offers users a collaborative environment to edit, save, share, and comment on files on a mobile device via an encrypted, protected file container. IT and security teams have access to Accellion’s web-based administrative tool for unprecedented control, including the ability to turn on the Accellion Mobile App Protected Editing mode for designated mobile users or the View Only mode as appropriate, depending on the business and security requirements of an organization.

“Accellion is leading the industry when it comes to enterprise mobile file sharing security features and control,” said Yorgen Edholm, president and CEO of Accellion. “The ability for users to share and edit files with encrypted protection on their iPad and iPhone is an important product innovation.  Users need intuitive and easy-to-use mobile file sharing, but that should not mean IT and security teams have to compromise on information security.”

The Accellion Mobile App is delivered in a crisp and intuitive interface and is designed to help enterprise organizations address the security concerns of employee use of consumer services for file sharing on mobile devices.

“Consumer services like Dropbox indicate new collaboration options, but create security and management risks,” stated Gartner Research Vice President Monica Basso in the IT Market Clock for Enterprise Mobility 2011.

New Accellion Mobile App features for IT and security teams include:

* Deployment Options - Accellion supports on premise, public, private or hybrid cloud and FIPS 140-2 certified deployments.

* User-based permissions - When administering the Accellion Mobile App, IT and security teams can use Accellion’s web-based tools to allow mobile users to edit files in Protected Editing mode or keep their mobile users in View Only mode as needed to comply with an organization’s information security policies and established LDAP groups.

* Reporting - Files can be easily tracked and reported, including who downloaded what file, when and from what device to protect information and demonstrate compliance.

* Protected Editing - With the Accellion Mobile App for iOS 5, not only are files encrypted in transit, files saved on the mobile device are encrypted with 128-bit AES data encryption at rest and contained in a protected space.

* Offline Viewing - Files can be downloaded and saved locally in encrypted form for offline viewing without a WiFi or data connection.

* Editing - Files can be edited on the mobile device using supported editor applications such as Quickoffice for real-time collaboration.

* Encrypted Uploads - Files can be edited in Quickoffice and uploaded from the mobile device back to an Accellion Workspace.

The Accellion Mobile App is a free download and works in conjunction with Accellion Secure Collaboration and Accellion Managed File Transfer.
