Free password generator and virtual safe wins PC Plus award.

Steganos : 26 February, 2008  (New Product)
Safe One from Steganos recognised by PC Plus for its value with the free software enabling data to be locked away in virtual safes.
Steganos has been awarded the coveted PC Plus Value award for its freeware product, Steganos Safe One. The award comes at the end of a great year for the security software supplier, which also saw the launch of its first product suitable for Mac users.

Steganos Safe One allows users to store sensitive files in up to two virtual drives called Safes, each with a capacity of one gigabyte. Steganos Safe One features an integrated password generator, which helps the user create highly secure passwords to protect data inside the safes. The safes can also be unlocked with a 'key'. This could be an portable device that people commonly carry around, such as a USB stick, a digital camera or even an iPod. A unique feature of Safe One is Steganos 'PicPass' which allows users to open the Safe with a picture sequence they have set themselves.

Steganos Safe One is based on Steganos Safe 2008, which offers an unlimited amount of storage space, as well as a number of other innovative features that are unavailable in the freeware version.

PC Plus gave Steganos Safe One a four out of five start review, praising how "simple and convenient" the tool is. The magazine also commended the free software for providing users with a way to easily encrypt files - something vitally important in today's data breach society:

"Many of us are guilty of not taking data protection seriously enough, even if we don't admit to it- the guiding principle of secure data storage is encryption," the magazine said.

Steganos has won a variety of other awards including the PC World Best Buy certificate for Steganos Privacy Suite and Steganos Safe, and a PC Advisor Gold award. The PC Plus Value award continues this tradition of excellence.

"We're thrilled to receive a Value award from PC Plus as we pride ourselves on offering great value privacy software," said Aston Fallen, Managing Director of Steganos. "Safe One has brought easy to use security sofware into a new league and it's fantastic to have the merits of this program recognised in such a highly-respected magazine."
