Free e-mail image scan with Mail Distiller

Image Analyser : 25 October, 2007  (New Product)
Free content audit offered by Mail Distiller for 30 days to check for inappropriate content and combat exposure to anti-harassment legislation.
When asked whether employees are using the company email network for sending and receiving pornographic images, most Systems Administrators will reply that they are not sure.

Managed email service provider, Mail Distiller is now offering customers a free 30 day content audit in conjunction with their recently signed partnership with image analysis technology developer, Image Analyser. Mail will not be blocked or interdicted during the trial but customers will receive a report highlighting users who have sent and received inappropriate content during this period with thumbnail examples.

The availability of pornographic content and the increasing ease of transmission and storage have resulted in an increase in incidents of bullying and harassment and consequently damage to valuable brand image, loss of productivity and legal liability. Many employers are unaware that they have a duty of care to ensure that they do not allow a 'hostile working environment' to be created and that the content flowing in and out of their network is the responsibility of the directors of the company.

Crispin Pikes, CEO of Image Analyser commented, "Pleading ignorance or simply not knowing is no longer a defence in the court of law since technology now exists and is seen as a necessary precautionary step to prevent the problem".

"The free trial audit will give customers in depth visibility of the image traffic flowing in and out of their networks and allow them to identify areas of concern and employees who are abusing their systems. Most of our customers have an acceptable use policy and can use our service to modify behaviour and ensure their email is free from misuse, Image Analyser will be an excellent additional offering to our already very successful version 3 of Mail Distiller, released in August this year" commented Colm McGoldrick CTO of Mail Distiller.

Using the free trial as a snapshot insight to identify a problem, customers of Mail Distiller can then ensure the issue is fully addressed by deploying the full image management service, whereby traffic flow is constantly monitored and administrators can choose to tag suspect mails, copy suspect content for further inspection or in extreme cases block mail. The new service will compliment the existing Anti Virus and Anti Spam services which the company offers on a managed basis and which are also available for a free trial period.
The new service launches on, 19th November 2007 and will be made available to all existing and new Mail Distiller customers.
