Forthcoming Security Institute events

The Security Institute : 14 May, 2008  (Company News)
The Security Institute is running a conference examining the effect of climate change on the security industry.
The theme of the annual Security Institute conference for 2008 to be held at the Met Office in Exeter on the 24th and 25th of June is 'Climate of Change', and seeks to encourage debate, examine the causes, effects and solutions required for the security industry to address potential catastrophic effects in the near future. Health and Safety play a significant part in the delivery of security methodologies and perhaps we need to examine how methods are practised in other parts of the world where the effects of global warming have already had an effect. Guest speakers include Giles Chichester MEP (President European Energy Forum) and John Welch (Head, UK Water). There will also be a number of Exhibition Stands, details of which are just being finalised.

This inaugural Conference is being hosted at the Met Office, Exeter. It will start at 2:00pm on Tuesday, and end at 12:30pm Wednesday, to allow time for travelling. Full details of the guest speakers and the booking form will be made available in the near future, together with details of local hotels which are available during the event.

Additionally, on Thursday 19th June, from 12:30 to 17:00, Westminster Police invite Security Institute members to a Project Griffin Counter-Terrorism Course at the London School of Economics. Price for members is just £30 (contribution for room & refreshments). The event is supported by the Metropolitan Police and City of Westminster Safer Streets.
