First certificates issues for level 2 security practitioners.

Skills For Security : 28 March, 2007  (Company News)
New qualification for security practitioners issued to 170 candidates who successfully completed the NOCN level two course
The SIA endorsed, and QCA appointed, awarding body National Open College Network (NOCN) and Skills for Security the Skills and Standards Setting Body for the Security Industry, have announced that the first one hundred and seventy successful candidates have been awarded the new NOCN Level 2 Certificate for Security Practitioners.

These candidates participated in the industry pilot over the last twelve months and are employed by five of the countries leading guarding companies: G4S, Securitas, The Corps, VSG and Wilson James.

Stefan Hay, Director of Business Development and Communication at Skills for Security said; "Working on this pioneering qualification approach has not been an easy process, it was hard work and required a lot of support and dedication from the participating companies, NOCN and the team here at Skills for Security, especially as the pilot started as programme which only later converted into a full qualification. Having the input of both the SIA and QCA was also immensely helpful and there is now a collective belief that the Certificate for Security Practitioners heralds the future for qualifications in the sector."

NOCN reports that feedback from the pilot companies is extremely positive and they are happy to be delivering a qualification that was designed against their own requirements and with their active participation.

Dr David Hutchinson of NOCN said; "This qualification is a hugely significant achievement for the security business sector. It is the first Level 2 qualification of its kind for Security Officers and has now received National LSC funding. The outcome and existence of the qualification is a remarkable three way collaboration between industry employers, NOCN and Skills for Security."

NOCN is currently promoting the qualification through its network of quality reviewers and further information can be obtained from NOCN
