Fingerprint recognition algorithm passes MINEX test.

Certification of MegaCatcher biometric fingerprint recognition product from Neurotechnologija passes US government test validating its use for federal and government identification and verification uses.
Neurotechnologija has announced that the company's MegaMatcher 2.0 fingerprint recognition algorithm has received full certification in the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Minutiae Interoperability Exchange Test (MINEX). The MINEX test evaluates fingerprint template encoding and matching to determine compliance with the government's Personal Identity Verification (PIV) program for the identification and authentication of Federal employees and contractors. MegaMatcher 2.0 is one of only 12 algorithms worldwide to receive full MINEX certification for both fingerprint template encoding and matching. This certification puts MegaMatcher 2.0 SDK into the US government buyers' certified list of fingerprint recognition algorithms, which will allow Neurotechnologija as well as its distributors and integrators to compete for biometric procurements related to the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS 201) and the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD 12).

The MINEX program provides measurements of fingerprint algorithm performance and interoperability to both government and commercial entities. The MINEX certification denotes that a fingerprint recognition algorithm not only conforms to NIST's interoperability standards but is also in compliance with the US Government's Personal Identity Verification (PIV) program. The PIV program was implemented to improve the identification and authentication of Federal employees and contractors for access to Federal facilities and information systems. FIPS 201 and HSPD-12 require all federal government employees and contractors to submit fingerprints for background checks prior to being given access to designated government buildings and technology infrastructure.

'We're seeing a rapidly growing demand for automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS) for both civil and forensic applications, and the MINEX certification is on the critical path for companies that want to market their technologies to any Federally funded agencies. It is the most coveted certification in recent biometrics history,' said Ken Nosker, President and CEO of Fulcrum Biometrics, a biometrics technology consultancy and solution provider. 'Neurotechnologija's products, which consistently receive some of the highest accuracy and speed ratings in the market, are also priced at the lower end of the spectrum, which makes them even more attractive to budget-conscious government agencies.'

MegaMatcher 2.0 SDK, which was released earlier this year, can be used for the development of large-scale automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS) and also for multi-biometric face-fingerprint identification systems because it includes both fingerprint and face identification engines. Using a fusion algorithm that allows the two technologies to work together, MegaMatcher 2.0 provides very fast 1:N (1 to many) matching with even higher reliability than AFIS or facial recognition alone.

MegaMatcher 2.0 is available with highly competitive licensing options through Neurotechnologija or from distributors worldwide. A 30-day trial version with full functionality is also available for download.
