Fingerprint biometric systems for Texas government departments

US Biometrics : 31 July, 2008  (Application Story)
Access management using fingerprint biometrics and centralised biometric data management system to be installed in Texas government offices
US Biometrics and its sub-contractor partner - Austin Biometrics - have been awarded a supply contract through the Texas Multiple Award Schedule Program to provide key fingerprint biometric products to the various departments in the Texas State Government. Texas Procurement and Support Services (TPASS) awards and manages hundreds of statewide contracts on behalf of more than 200 state agencies and 1,700 local government agencies. US Biometrics has named Austin Biometrics as its authorised Historically Under-utilised Business (HUB) dealer. The statewide HUB Program facilitates the use of HUBs in state procurement and provides information on the state's procurement process to minority and woman-owned businesses.

"US Biometrics has primarily focused on selling and marketing our biometric products into the financial, medical and manufacturing industries," states David Delgrosso, President of US Biometrics. "With the help of Austin Biometrics, we have now expanded our Federal GSA contract into the State of Texas."

Examples of products contracted for include:.

* AccessQ - Biometric access control for physical entrances. These devices include a rugged construction, two-factor authentication capabilities, indoor/outdoor features, and Numerical Access Control availability (NAC) which make them standouts in the marketplace.

* CentralQ - With each AccessQ installation, this centralised repository and management system stores and controls biometric information as well as other credentials. There is also a reporting mechanism for creating an audit trail of who used what entrance and when.

Austin Biometrics President Sherri Lyles states, "Our recent partnership with US Biometrics will enable us to provide our TXMAS customers with the most advanced and proven biometric solutions in the market. It was extremely important for us to partner with the leader in this field. Simply put, their approach to solving problems for people quickly, conveniently and cost effectively mirrors our philosophy. We look forward to a very long relationship."
