Fellowship Award to e-identity professional

European E-Identity Management Conference : 28 July, 2009  (Company News)
eema has recognised Stork project Director for services to European e-identity with fellowship
eema, the European association for e-identity and security, has announced Jon Shamah as the recipient of its prestigious Fellowship Award, in recognition of his services to European e-identity. Each year eema awards its highest accolade to member of the association who has made an outstanding contribution to its goals.

The award was presented by the eema Board Director, Stuart McRay, who comments: "Jon Shamah is a deserving winner of this award. He has a proven track record of success and specific expertise in identity management; as well as expert knowledge of national e-ID schemes, e-Border initiatives and e-Passports that he is generous in sharing with other members of eema."

Mr Shamah is an active participant in eema's work and is involved as a technical advisor to the STORK project - a pilot scheme co-funded by the EU of which eema is actively involved - that aims to implement EU-wide interoperability of e-identity. He also advises eema on the content of eema's regular Regional Interest Group meetings and its European e-ID and security conferences held throughout the year, including ISSE 2009 that will take place between 6th and 8th October in The Hague.

McRay adds: "During these events, whether as an active participant, presenter or session chair, Jon Shamah helps eema to forge partner relationships, thus broadening the scope of our activities."

Commenting on eema and the Fellowship Award, Jon Shamah explains: "I consider it one of the highlights of my career to be given this honour. For 22 years eema has been at the forefront as an educator and campaigner for interoperability of security, systems and standards. As a member I derive great value from all of its activities and I would encourage any organisation or individual with a keen interest in e-identity to join."

Based in the UK, Jon Shamah is a Professional Consultant and EMEA Sales Manager of the eSecurity division at BBS (Norway). He will be presenting 'Cross-border e-procurement with a trusted third party service' between 14.30 and 16.00 on Tuesday 6th October at ISSE 2009. For registration, delegate fees and further details, please visit the conference website. Delegates registering for ISSE 2009 will also gain full access to all Identity 2009 conference sessions.
