Face imaging software from Oki wins award.

Adaptable performance of Oki's Face Sensing Engine to suit low resolution applications results in Japanese software award.
Oki Electric Industry has announced that on October 30th it was awarded the Grand Prix in the Software Product of the Year 2007 for its face image processing middleware, FSE (Face Sensing Engine), by the Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA).

'We are honoured to be awarded the Grand Prix for our FSE middleware in the Software Product of the Year 2007," said Harushige Sugimoto, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Oki Electric Industry. 'This award validates our efforts in developing and providing a product that contributes to convenient and enjoyable Ubiquitous Services. Going forward, we will continue to propose new FSE-based solutions to various markets.'

OKI's FSE is a middleware that enables high-speed process of detecting, tracking and identifying faces. It provides a world's top level processing performance, adjusts to various photographing environment, and adapts to 100K pixel low resolution cameras. OKI's FSE has been provided to various applications including mobile phones, digital cameras, game consoles and ASP services. The FSE was recognized the Grand Prix for its track record, impact on the industry and development of new applications in the face image processing market.

Software Product of the Year is an award system established in 1989, created to accelerate expansion and enrichment of the software market, enhance the provisioning of high quality software, and increase software development motivation. This year, out of 75 products, OKI's FSE was selected as one of eight award candidates, and ultimately won the Grand Prix.
