Pilgrims Group : 02 July, 2008  (Company News)
New Director of Business Development brings extensive counter terrorism and close protection experience to Pilgrims Group after 25 years in the Royal Military Police
Simon Dorset has joined Pilgrims Group as Director of Business Development. He recently left the Army where he was Head of Strategic Planning for Future Force Requirements in the Headquarters of the Provost Marshal. He commanded posts in the Royal Military Police for 25 years and has an extensive and impressive background in counter-terrorism, close protection and investigations. He has been deployed operationally around the world from Northern Ireland to Afghanistan, the Middle East and Africa, and commanded the RMP Close Protection Unit during the critical years of 2001-2003 following the 9/11 attacks, the intervention in Afghanistan and invasion of Iraq.

Simon has provided close protection support to the Foreign Office, Department for International Development and other government departments. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, HR, training, and force development issues for a 4000 strong organisation. He also has a Business Management Diploma.

"I pride myself on listening to people, getting to the root of what they are after, finding a solution to problems and working in partnership with people," said Dorset. "Pilgrims Group has grown year on year, and my role is to maintain and increase this rate of growth whilst maintaining the company's USPs of unsurpassed quality and ability to deliver. I joined Pilgrims Group because its reputation is extremely high with an ethos of quality and diversity of business. The company provides a whole security solution which is interesting for future clients and the potential for further growth is tremendous."

Simon's broad range of experience in the military from operations to strategic planning makes him well placed to assist with clients' security issues worldwide. "I'm looking forward to developing relations with Pilgrims' clients and making sure Pilgrims Group is best placed to provide a solution to all their risk and security requirements," affirmed Dorset.

Managing Director of Pilgrims Group, Bill Freear, commented: "I am delighted Simon has joined the Pilgrims team. After a long and comprehensive selection process his excellent personal skills and propensity to listen and take things in quickly marked him out from all others interviewed. His detailed knowledge of the threats now facing the security world and the methods currently available to mitigate against those threats make him the ideal addition to Pilgrims' high quality management team."
