European Central Bank Approves Cash Recycling ATM from OKI

Oki Electric Industry : 19 May, 2010  (New Product)
The ATM-Recycler G7 cash issuing machine with recycling capability gains European Central Bank approvals for handing Euro banknotes
OKI Electric Industry has announced that the "ATM-Recycler G7", a cash-recycling ATM intended for the worldwide market, has passed the test mandated by Article 6 of Council Regulation (EC) No 1338/2001 of 28 June 2001. Set forth by the European Central Bank, the Article lays down a framework for the circulation of Euro banknotes to ensure the quality and reliability of circulating Euro banknotes.

The "ATM Recycle G7" is a high-performance, high-quality, high-reliability cash-recycling ATM that draws on OKI's mechatronics technologies and market experience. Designed specifically to handle Euro banknotes, the new ATM has already passed the Article 6 test, becoming the first cash-recycling ATM provided by an Asia-based vendor to meet this requirement. ATMs must pass this test before deployment in Euro currency countries. OKI plans to market the product in the European market.

Major Features of the ATM-Recycler G7:

1 Handles banknotes from multiple world currencies - The "ATM-Recycler G7" is capable of handling banknotes denominated in multiple currencies, even notes having different sizes, designs, and security features. Banknotes from multiple currencies can be handled in a single ATM. The "ATM-Recycler G7" has passed the test mandated under the European Central Bank's banknote-recycling framework for Euro banknotes (ECB Article 6).

2 New banknote-recycling module offers high performance and high reliability - The "ATM-Recycler G7" reduces banknote processing times and provides high reliability. The visibility of the remaining banknotes has been improved to allow for easy maintenance.

3 High capacity - Holds up to 16,200 banknotes, positioning it in the top tier of the cash recycling ATM industry.

4 Low energy consumption and reduced weight - Both in stand-by mode and while operating, the new product features low energy consumption to minimize environmental impact. It also features reduced weight.

5 High quality - To ensure high quality, work ranging from development, parts manufacture, component assembly, to the manufacture of the final product is handled at OKI.

6 Security features - As a standard, it is also equipped with a uniquely-formed card slot and a sensor to detect parts used to skim account numbers and personal identification numbers (PINs). The product can be equipped with a cover that can be drawn over the personal identification number (PIN) input panel to hide PIN entry from unauthorized individuals.
