Enterprise Mobility Collaboration Between Dell and Aruba Networks

Aruba Networks : 18 August, 2010  (New Product)
Wireless networking security from Aruba Networks to be delivered to the mobile enterprise using Dell's PowerConnect W-Series of wireless networking products
Enterprise Mobility Collaboration Between Dell and Aruba Networks
Dell and Aruba Networks have announced a multi-year agreement to deliver Aruba's wireless networking solutions under the Dell PowerConnect W-Series.

Customers in the 'Virtual Era' are increasingly looking for wireless networking capabilities that support the mobility requirements of end-users while balancing the management, security, and scalability needs of IT professionals. The new PowerConnect W-Series is designed to help customers more efficiently deploy and manage wireless networking solutions, and expands Dell's existing PowerConnect portfolio to deliver networking capabilities from the core to the edge.

Dell's PowerConnect W-Series of wireless networking solutions will help customers dynamically scale their networks by delivering enterprise-class connectivity and security to mobile workers. Through an intuitive, centralised management console, IT professionals will be able to manage thousands of wireless access points. End-users will gain virtually anywhere, anytime access to critical information and applications when they're needed most. The PowerConnect W-Series is designed to be easy to deploy and seamlessly prioritise bandwidth based on application demands in a dynamic, rapidly-changing network.

W-Series Controllers will enable easy integration into an organisation's existing network, to securely and efficiently extend network resources to a mobile workforce. Once deployed, automated access point set-up and configuration will help reduce deployment time, while centralised management will allow administrators to more quickly realise the benefits of a fully-integrated and managed wireless solution. These productivity and mobility features benefit the enterprise, including branch offices, government, healthcare and small businesses.

Based on open-standards and interoperable with a broad universe of existing networking solutions, the Dell PowerConnect W-Series family will include:

- The PowerConnect W-3000 Series Controllers, delivering advanced secure, mobile connectivity for business-critical data, voice, and video applications;
- The PowerConnect W-600 Series Small Business and Branch Office Controllers, offering mobile connectivity and innovative features including Power-over-Ethernet, and file/print server options;
- W-Series Access Point solutions, including the PowerConnect W-AP92/W-AP93 Single Radio, PowerConnect W-AP105 Dual-Radio, and PowerConnect W-AP124/W-AP125 Dual-Radio 3x3 MIMO solutions, all supporting 802.11a/b/g/n industry standards;
- AirWave Wireless Management Suite, a powerful operations management solution for multi-vendor wired, wireless, and mobile device networks.

The Dell PowerConnect W-Series of wireless networking products are expected to be available to customers in the United States, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom this quarter, with other countries in the near future. Solutions will be available through Dell and its PartnerDirect channel partners.

"As enterprise users of Dell technologies become more mobile, the PowerConnect W-Series delivers best-of-breed, centrally managed wireless networking solutions. Wireless LAN is a perfect complement to our existing PowerConnect networking solutions and helps Dell deliver a comprehensive, end-to-end solution," said Brad Anderson, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Product Group, Dell. "Our collaboration with Aruba delivers solutions that meet end-users' demanding needs for bandwidth and IT administrators' needs for security and manageability."

"The increasingly mobile workforce is driving major changes in how enterprise networks are designed," said Hitesh Sheth, Aruba COO. "Continuous secure network access within and outside the enterprise is essential to productivity. Validated by more than 11,000 customers worldwide, Aruba's 802.11n wireless LANs and remote access technology deliver the secure and reliable network access required by mobile users. With this agreement, our best secure mobility solutions are now available under the Dell brand, which is world renowned for value and service."
