Enhanced Security Against Insider Threats

AEP Networks : 13 August, 2010  (New Product)
Series A Version 7 from AEP Networks provides access level management and user quarantining in an effort to prevent employee data leakage problems
AEP Networks has announced new measures to help organisations tackle insider data theft and tampering, whilst accelerating the efficiencies gained from the consumerisation of IT. With a high-end fully audited security system that controls who is able to access what data from what device, AEP Networks is delivering information assurance to organisations that are hosting sensitive data in business applications held in virtualised environments.

Series A Version 7 enables organisations to provide their employees with complete freedom to use their own devices and printing facilities, whilst upholding a high security status. Using fingerprinting technology, each device and employee can be checked for full compliance with security protocols during connection requests, meaning organisations no longer need to pre-approve tens of thousands devices. Any device or employee falling outside of the organisations' security levels will be enabled to work in a quarantined environment.

"Organisations no longer need to shut the door to employees looking to use their own devices to access corporate data. It isn't the act of a consumer device connecting to a corporate network that presents a risk; it is the act of an unauthorised device touching the corporate environment. With the right security controls, employees can benefit from the freedom to choose their own devices and businesses can benefit from improved employee productivity and flexibility," said Mark Darvill, Director at AEP Networks.

Series A Version 7 supports a fully heterogeneous environment, extending to all applications whether it be Microsoft, Citrix, UNIX. With improved scalability to support up to 10,000 concurrent users, data held in company applications can be remotely accessed via a browser over a virtual private network (VPN). Series A Version 7 offers a range of security levels to suit any level of sensitive data, from Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 Level 4 option (security at the highest FIPS level) to strong two-factor authentication and layered authentication.

To eliminate remote access threats and endpoint dangers, each device is taken through a series of security steps before granted access to data. The process starts with host integrity checking to validate the presence of security protection such as anti-virus and confirmation is then sought on the identity/location of the remote devices. A unique profile (based upon CPU, memory, network card addresses and other information) is then used to uniquely identify the specific computer. A cache cleaner removes the danger of sensitive data being left behind at remote locations.

Key features of the new Series A Version 7 are:

• Access Level Management: Businesses can limit privileges for users who do not pass client integrity checks to allow business continuity with a reduced level of access
• Reporting: Enterprises can download user activity reports for auditing, compliance, and usage measurement reporting
• User Quarantine: For users who do not pass client integrity checks, they will be provided with remediation options
• Printing: Organisations can offer universal printing without incurring an administrative headache
• Device liberal: Employees can use their own devices to access the applications hosted in the virtualised environment
• Increased Reliability: The 8500 and 6500 models include RAID storage and a dual power supply for increased reliability
• Virtual Appliance: Available as a fully functional Virtual Appliance for organisations looking to transition away from hardware based networking products

AEP Network's Secure Application Access range secures remote access in the most stringent American, Canadian and EMEA security standards.
