Rapiscan Systems has won the Emerging Markets Airports Award (EMA) for Best Emerging Markets Airport Security Equipment Manufacturer in 2012. The award, which Rapiscan has successfully retained for a second consecutive year, honours the company’s services to the emerging markets in the Middle Eastern and Asian continents to aviation and cargo security. Mario de Magalhaes, Sales Manager - Sub Saharan Africa at Rapiscan Systems, accepted the award on behalf of the company at the EMA awards, which were held during the Airport Suppliers conference in Dubai, UAE.
The EMA awards evaluates a broad spectrum of product and service touch points across the airport experience, covering a wide spectrum of passenger types, highest satisfaction ratings in a diverse market. Considered one of the most prestigious awards to recognise product and service quality in the airport industry across the emerging markets, the awards surveys the most diverse and discerning group of professionals involved in airports, aviation, aerospace, cargo and logistics industry honours companies based on their endorsement.
Rapiscan Systems’ installed base within the region has grown significantly in recent years, driven by increased demand across emerging markets for advanced security technology solutions for screening passengers, baggage and cargo. Examples of innovative aviation security screening technology from Rapiscan include the 620 Dual View (DV) X Ray baggage scanner, which not only meets worldwide regulatory standards for threat detection, but also has significant operational benefits including a smaller footprint, greater energy efficiency, and reduced weight loading. Another example is Rapiscan’s Real Time Tomography (RTT) system, which allows airports to screen up to 1,800 bags per hour while delivering high resolution 3D images to significantly improve the detection of potential threats and reducing delays in baggage handling. The unique RTT system provides faster and more accurate bag screening than all currently installed baggage handling systems.
