EMEA Sales VP appointed at Guardium

Guardium : 06 November, 2009  (Company News)
Database security company appoints senior manager to handle demand growth in the EMEA region
Guardium, the database security company, has announced the appointment of Andrew Lawton as vice president of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Based out of Guardium's EMEA headquarters in London, Andrew will apply his in-depth experience and understanding of enterprise security to drive Guardium's growth across the region.

In his new role, Andrew will lead Guardium's EMEA sales team, manage the company's channel partners, and accelerate Guardium's expansion in the region. He will also oversee management of Guardium's impressive customer base of industry-leading organisations in EMEA, which currently includes:

• One of the world's top five banks, headquartered in the UK.
• A top five global bank with data centers across Europe.
• Multiple leading telecommunications companies, including companies with data centers managed by Accenture.
• One of the largest financial services groups in the region, headquartered in France.
• Major UK ministries and government organisations, in partnership with IBM Global Services and other leading service providers.
• A European payment card processor.
• A major provider of international trading and custody services which settles more than 250,000 transactions daily and serves more than 2,500 financial institutions worldwide.
• The largest stock exchange in the Middle East, as well as several leading Middle Eastern banks.

Before joining Guardium, Andrew was vice president of Northern Europe for IBM Internet Security Systems (ISS) and held senior sales executive positions within Hewlett Packard's UK Business Continuity Service team. Other management experience includes the role of EMEA vice president for a leading vendor of enterprise encryption and authentication management solutions. Across this range of executive roles, he has handled large corporate accounts such as HSBC and Vodafone, and managed major partners such as IBM, Verizon and VeriSign. He graduated from Imperial College London.

Guardium's new vice president of EMEA sales said: "The realisation is dawning across EMEA that corporations and governments need to have greater visibility and control over who accesses their sensitive data, and they need to prove to regulators and the public that these controls exist and are effective. Guardium offers the simplest, most robust solution to meet these needs, while at the same reducing IT costs with automated and centralised controls for heterogeneous data centres. I look forward to helping organisations in EMEA address their strategic operational and data security challenges."

David Valovcin, vice-president of international sales, Guardium said: "Andrew is a determined and focused leader with a proven track record of working with large corporate accounts and channel partners. His experience in helping enterprises address critical business problems has been integral to his long-term success. We are extremely fortunate to have him onboard; he adds a critical piece in building and managing our sales organisation as we capitalise on our leadership role in data security and compliance."
