Electronic lock enables remote access scheduling.

Videx Inc. : 19 July, 2007  (New Product)
Retro-fit CyberLock barrels have remote scheduling capability allowing keys to be matched to locks as required.
Videx continues to safeguard physical assets with its CyberLock cylinders that quickly convert existing mechanical lock hardware to a high-security lock simply by replacing the mechanical lock cylinder with the CyberLock electronic cylinder.

Each CyberLock cylinder contains a microprocessor and memory and is designed to the exact dimensional standards of the mechanical cylinder it is replacing. The CyberLock family includes intelligent padlocks and a full line of electronic cylinders that install in doors and cabinets without any need for hardwiring or structural changes.

The system consists of the CyberLock cylinder that cannot be picked and the CyberKey that cannot be duplicated. Each key contains permissions on what locks the key can open, with a schedule of days and times it will open those locks. Each time the key opens a lock; a record is stored in both the key and the lock cylinder, creating a concise audit report of openings.

With CyberLock, says, Hilverda, "Videx offers several different levels for managing physical access—each is designed to solve a company's ever-widening security needs." For companies that need a high level of security and key control,

CyberAudit Professional is a Windows program that includes access scheduling and audit reports, along with features such as key expirations, report generation, and email notification of events. For large geographically widespread companies, feature-rich CyberAudit-Web Enterprise is packaged on a server and accessed by using a web browser on a local network or the internet.

According to Andy Hilverda, Vice President of Videx, "Managing physical access has become increasingly important in the post-9/11 world, not just to ensure security, but to manage liability. Understanding who has access rights and when they exercise those rights is essential to governments and many businesses, including telecommunications providers, municipalities, airport facilities, utilities, logistic organizations, and academic institutions."
