EIM solution at US army exhibition

Netcracker Technology : 13 August, 2008  (New Product)
LandWarNet 2008 sees demonstration of certified enterprise infrastructure management system from NetCracker Technology
NetCracker Technology will demonstrate its industry-leading EIM solution, that the US Army and Army National Guard have certified and deployed to harness the power of their Network and IT infrastructures.

The solution will be demonstrated at the LandWarNet 2008 conference in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, from August 19–21 (Booth 1640). It will also be demonstrated during the US Army Architecture Day on August 18.

With NetCracker’s innovative solution, customers can:.

* Create, deliver, and manage converged services across all layers of Network and IT infrastructure using a single platform.
* Accurately model and visualize physical resources, logical resources, applications, and connectivity across Network and IT domains.

This ability to manage Network and IT resources from a single platform is central to the US Army and Army National Guard’s Enterprise Infrastructure Management (EIM) Project.

“We are proud that the US Army and Army National Guard have continued to benefit from our ground-breaking EIM solution,” said Andrew Feinberg, President and CEO of NetCracker Technology. “We look forward to supporting the Army as they extend EIM benefits to all of their networks.”

EIM standardises the processes used to manage Network and IT asset information. SUW, a module in the EIM program, provides accurate information that enables managers to make software license procurement decisions.

EIM Asset Management: EIM gathers Network and IT asset data from numerous sources and automatically places them in a central repository. The data are then used in asset and telecom cost management, outside plant measurements, IT metric reporting, automatic design and assign processes, ITIL compliance, and architectural compliance monitoring.
Information from the EIM repository is used to implement standardised workflows and management reports across the enterprise. EIM eliminates manual data calls and implements automated Service Level Management — using accurate, continuously updated infrastructure data.

Software Utilisation Workflow (SUW): By measuring installed software use against the number of purchased licenses, SUW gives managers constantly refreshed, accurate, and comprehensive information that they can use to make informed business decisions.

Managers can provide the right software at the right time and place, and reduce costs by eliminating manual methods.

Based on the benefits achieved over ten months in the Army National Guard, the Army has estimated that SUW can produce cost avoidances of $10–20 million per year for one software application alone.

At LandWarNet, NetCracker will demonstrate how EIM and SUW create automated, end-to-end views of Network and IT software and hardware resources, and also provide intelligent workflows that facilitate service requests and procurement decisions.
