Easy palm print capture device demonstration

Cross Match Technologies : 26 June, 2008  (New Product)
Biometric palm print recognition system and capture device from Cross Match Technologies to be demonstrated at National Sheriff's Association conference
Cross Match Technologies will formally introduce the first FBI-certified single platen design palm scanner, the L SCAN 500P, at the National Sheriff's Association 2008 Conference in Indianapolis next week.

The L SCAN 500P is the lightest and smallest palm scanner in the industry and is designed to meet the growing market demand for lightweight, flat, single platen palm systems. This demand has grown in recent years as law enforcement agencies upgrade their booking process with palm capture systems to increase the probability of matching latent prints and making positive identifications. The L SCAN 500P is equipped with a unique interactive LCD display including two smart buttons, descriptive icons and integrated color messages. The LCD display is user-friendly and provides immediate feedback, making the capture sequence easier, faster and safer. This special feature provides a greater measure of safety for a law enforcement officer who can capture a full set of high quality prints without losing eye contact with the person being booked or enrolled.

The L SCAN 500P is an important tool in criminal investigations and forensic analysis. It captures forensic quality images that comply with the FBI Image Quality Specification as defined in Appendix F of the EFTS. The device represents a new 500 ppi capture standard for palm, ten-print and ID-flats in fixed and portable configurations. Additionally, Cross Match's patented auto capture technology enables users to obtain the highest quality single capture of upper, lower and writer's palm images, each in less than one second.

Cross Match recently completed the installation of 500P palm systems for Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Tribal Police Department (LTBB) in various locations throughout the state of Michigan. This deployment was in response to a program sponsored by the Department of Justice to enhance the crime fighting and criminal justice capabilities of Tribal governments. The Tribal Criminal History Records Improvement Program (T-CHRIP) provides grants to federally recognised tribes to improve data sharing across tribal, state and national criminal records systems.

"Cross Match continues to build on our leadership in developing high-quality and innovative livescan products with the L SCAN 500P. We are particularly excited to introduce this industry leading product to our customers to help them stay on the leading edge of law enforcement and identification technology and, very importantly, to comply with the "Adam Walsh Act" requirements for registering sex offenders including palm and fingerprint data. This law is another important step forward in our nation's efforts to protect our children and those who cannot protect themselves," remarked Cross Match CEO and President, James Ziglar.

Cross Match will demonstrate the L SCAN 500P, along with its latest biometric offerings for law enforcement applications, at Booth 1715 from June 28th through July 2nd.
