Document counterfeit protection from DeedMark

TSSI Systems : 17 May, 2007  (New Product)
DeedMark features machine readable authentication and serialisation for tracking sensitive documents and preventing counterfeit.
TSSI Systems has announced the launch of a state-of-the-art machine-readable feature that prevents forgery of paper documents. Being demonstrated at this yearís Secure Document World show, TSSIís DeedMark is ideally suited to protecting valuable, paper documents against counterfeit. TSSIís DeedMark security foil not only provides machine-readable document authentication but also can assign a number to each document, thus enabling document-tracking schemes to be developed. Advances in TSSIís manufacturing techniques have made the proven technology cost-effective for many applications from high-end government and educational documentation to event tickets and gift vouchers.

The need for sophisticated, machine-readable anti-forgery measures is underlined by the findings of a recent study by TSSI that show document forgery is on the increase. In the UK, 45 per cent of people admitted to some kind of forgery, including ID cards, travel passes, and tickets for concert and sporting events.

Stewart Hefferman, COO of TSSI Systems Ltd commented: ďThe proliferation of low-cost digital printers, cameras, and scanners has inevitably led to increases in document counterfeiting. Our survey results show it is now commonplace and practically socially acceptable. Governments, businesses and consumers need documents with a range of strong anti-forgery measures to protect revenues, maintain security and to confirm a documentís provenance. TSSI leads the way in machine readable security and we are very confident that DeedMark will open markets where cost-effective document security is imperative.Ē

DeedMark complements the more usual document security features (UV inks, taggants, printing techniques etc.) by adding a machine-readable dimension to the process of authenticating a document. The DeedMark is applied directly onto the surface of the document and comes in a range of colours allowing it to be easily incorporated into the documentís design.
