Digital Shredder selected for Defence coalition demonstration

Ensconce Data Technology : 29 May, 2008  (Application Story)
Interoperability demonstration to US defence departments to include Esconce's Digital Shredder for data sanitisation and safe hard disk disposal
Ensconce Data Technology (EDT) has announced that it was one of 22 vendors selected to participate in this years Interoperability Demonstration (CWID 2008), to be held on June the 9-19th, 2008 across multiple global sites.

CWID is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff's annual event that allows combatant commands, services, Department of Defence and other government agencies the ability to evaluate new and emerging technologies capable of being placed into an operational environment within 12-18 months following the execution period.

The CWID Senior Management Group (SMG), together with the coalition partners, selects Interoperability Trial proposals to satisfy CWID's need to share and exchange critical, time-sensitive information between military organisations, international coalitions and civilian agencies.

"We are thrilled to be sponsoring EDT's Digital Shredder," said Captain Scott Bjorge of the US Air Force. "It was refreshing for us to witness the tremendous response and interest from US military branches to sponsor EDT to demonstrate the Digital Shredder's capabilities."

"The Digital Shredder's inherent security features combined with its ease-of-use could make it a great weapon of Denial and Deception (D&D) in the DoD's arsenal, capable of limiting the enemy's intelligence collection efforts," said Capt Bjorge. "It is of equally great interest to us for Homeland Defence applications. The Digital Shredder could provide us with superior capabilities to gain strategic advantages over the Cyber-enemy. Hanscom AFB-ESC (Host Command), SPAWAR & NAVSEA Dahlgren are excited to be demonstrating EDT's potential during CWID."

"Interest in The Digital Shredder is a clear reflection of the DoD's most recent move to an acquisition strategy highly focused on a hard drive sanitisation solution that allows for classified hard drives to be reused," said Bruce Stimon, VP of Government Solutions at EDT. "The foundation of EDT is Information Assurance through proper hard drive decommissioning and strong sanitisation integrated with a defendable audit trail. The Digital Shredder's security features combined with its ease-of-use and portability make it ideal for operational military units that cannot quickly and easily replace hard drives."
