Digital microscope in use at forensics museum
Bodelin Technologies, manufacturers of the ProScope HR, the world's first handheld high resolution digital microscope, has provided their ProScope HR to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry for their 'CSI: The Experience' exhibit currently running now until September 13th.

The ProScope HR connects to the USB port of almost any laptop or desktop computer and allows the user to view almost any surface at magnifications up to 1000X. Starting at $349 the ProScope HR is lead free, UVC (plug and play) comes with Windows and Mac software to capture stills video and time lapse and is made locally in Lake Oswego.

The ProScope HR started in earth science education in 2001. Prior to that time microscopes had not changed since the 17th century so the ProScope grabbed the attention of many science disciplines including law enforcement CSI.

The producers of the CBS series CSI first approached Bodelin Technologies in 2002 after learning that state, municipal and federal agents in the United States and as well as hundreds of agencies overseas were using the ProScope on the crime scene as well as in the lab. Now the ProScope HR is used in all three CSI series as well as many other crime dramas and feature films because of the actual use by real CSI worldwide.

The ProScope HR is used in ballistics, blood spatter, anti-counterfeiting, document fraud, narcotics, arson and accident investigations.

Student Volunteers at OMSI will be using the ProScope HR in a hands on demonstration in the 'CSI: The Experience' exhibit through until September 13th.
