DHS secure e-mail order for Unisys

Unisys : 06 November, 2008  (Application Story)
Unisys to supply identity management software for secure e-mail at the US Citizenship and Immigration Services department
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) has awarded Unisys with a $1.4 million task order under the Department of Homeland Security Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge Solutions (EAGLE) contract to provide secure email and identity management services supporting the agency's 18,000 employees.

The task order covers the first phase of the Baseline Automation Support Infrastructure for Citizenship Services (BASICS) and will be completed over a 16-month period. Unisys will help the CIS move towards a more secure and independent IT infrastructure that will serve as a stable foundation to assist the agency in achieving its mission of adjudicating the nation's immigration and naturalisation cases and establishing immigration service policies.

The task order includes the design, development and implementation of a Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange email services as well as identity management support for CIS employees around the world. Unisys will also help design a user authentication and public key infrastructure solution integrated with the federal government's Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12) initiative for identity management.

The Unisys team also will help to support the DHS data centers and to install, manage and support disaster recovery solutions for the Core Enterprise Suite.
"Unisys expertise in the area of enterprise security and our unmatched experience supporting Microsoft Exchange solutions will allow us to bring these essential authentication and access management capabilities to CIS," said Tom Conaway, managing partner, Homeland Security, Unisys Federal Systems. "We look forward to supporting the CIS mission of overseeing the country's immigration and naturalization activities in the coming years."

For most organizations today, email is a mission-critical application which is rapidly expanding beyond communications and extending into collaboration and workflow functions. Unisys deep architectural experience in both Microsoft core infrastructure technologies and large-scale Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 deployments help organisations like CIS design and implement complex systems for maximum growth and efficiency.
