Deep Packet Inspection Vendor Gains New ISP Clients

Sandvine : 16 February, 2011  (Application Story)
Six internet service providers have opted for the services of Sandvine for network protection
Sandvine has won six new Internet service provider customers. In addition, Sandvine also announced it was named market share leader by Heavy Reading, in its semi-annual Deep Packet Inspection Market Tracker published on February 7, 2011.

"Heavy Reading estimates that Sandvine was the largest player in the entire market," stated Simon Sherrington, author of the report which analyzes the 2010 market share of standalone and pre-integrated DPI vendors. "The company aims to differentiate itself in a number of ways and emphasizes four key unique selling points: breadth of solutions, the fact it is access and vendor agnostic, reporting technology providing high visibility into network usage and trends, and scalability." This is the second time that Sandvine's market leadership has been recently recognized by industry analysts, preceded by the top ranking in Infonetics Research's Service Provider DPI Products Market Outlook in December 2010.

Several market drivers cited in the report are spurring customers towards Sandvine products:

. Growth of real-time entertainment

. Protection of networks

. Need to satisfy subscriber QoE

. New services

. Potential to lower costs

. Regulatory drivers

In response to these global market drivers, six new customers have adopted Sandvine's network policy control solutions. Three of the new customers come from North America, two customers come from Europe, and one from the APAC region. Three of the new customers offer broadband through wireless networks and three through DSL.

Sandvine's LTE-ready Policy Traffic Switch (PTS) hardware platform enables operators to deploy network policy control solutions, which allow them to gain visibility into their networks, better understand network traffic, manage network congestion, and make use of real-time subscriber/ application/ location/device awareness information towards implementation of targeted service plans and business intelligence strategies.

Sandvine's ongoing market leadership has recently been recognized by a wide variety of industry partnerships, including mobile systems integrator Acision, video optimization partners Mobixell, Ortiva Wireless and Vantrix, and PCRF (Policy and Charging Rules Function) partners Alcatel-Lucent, Bridgewater, Intracom Telecom, Openet, Redknee, and Tekelec.
