Datacard Moves into Central America With Acquisition of Premises from ECUS

Datacard Group : 29 March, 2010  (Company News)
Card Manufacturing and printing supplier acquires certain assets from Electronic Card Universal Systems of Mexico
Datacard Group has announced the acquisition of certain assets of Mexico City based Electronic Card Universal Systems (ECUS). ECUS has a long standing relationship with Datacard Group and has been the company's exclusive service provider for central issuance equipment in Mexico since 1996. With the transfer of ECUS offices in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Merida, Datacard Group establishes a dedicated presence in Mexico, and helps to strengthen the company's direct service and support capabilities in the region.

"We couldn't be more pleased to make this announcement, and see this as a natural progression of our relationship with ECUS," said John Di Leo, senior vice president of global sales and service for Datacard Group. "Their business relationships and local market knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to invest and grow in the region."

ECUS currently supports a wide range of Datacard solutions, including central and instant issuance products. Datacard Group plans to retain ECUS' technicians and to utilize their existing service infrastructure to ensure that current customers will enjoy the same high level of support that they have come to expect.

"Mexico is Latin America's second largest economy," continued Di Leo. "And as such, we need to have a direct presence to support our programs for driver's licences, state and national IDs, financial cards and numerous other market applications."
