Data strategy award shortlisting for Datanomic clients

Datanomic : 10 September, 2008  (Application Story)
Health care trust users of dn:director shortlisted for data strategy award for patient data quality monitoring
Data Quality specialist, Datanomic has announced that County Durham Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Darlington PCT have been shortlisted for a Data Strategy Award, following deployment of Datanomic's dn:Director for auditing, profiling and monitoring the quality of their patient data.

The award category, 'Best Use of Data in a Public Sector', recognises the most effective data strategy in local authorities, local and national Government. Relevant activities include population and catchment analysis, citizen relationship management and e-Government. County Durham PCT and Darlington PCT were singled out and shortlisted for the award based on the deployment of Datanomic's dn:Director for data quality auditing, profiling and monitoring, which was implemented in March of this year. The two PCTs have highly complex data, and must manage information from multiple data sources in inconsistent formats with multi-millions of rows of data, with patient records spanning in excess of 500 data fields each.

"Datanomic's dn:Director enables us to automate and streamline the handling of complex and disparate data from multiple sources in different formats," said Roger Haydon, Head of Information Services on behalf of County Durham and Darlington PCTs. "If data is incorrect, a patient could be allocated the wrong treatment code, which not only impacts patient care, but also costs and budgets. We are using Datanomic on a daily basis to work with a range of data flows that empower us to be world class commissioning organisations with a fully modern business intelligence system."

The 2008 Data Strategy Awards are designed to recognise the value of individuals and companies who are supporting the steady transformation of UK businesses into information-driven enterprises. Data governance, quality, compliance and management are central to empowering businesses to mitigate risk and act with confidence. The winners of each category will be announced on Thursday 23 October 2008 at The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
