Data Protection for MS System Centre users

Lumension Security : 10 November, 2009  (New Product)
Users of Microsoft's System Centre now have the ability to protect their data and enforce security policies reducing insider risks
Lumension has announced the general availability of Lumension Device Control for Microsoft System Centre (DCSC) to enable users to protect corporate data while reducing operational costs. Through Lumension DCSC, Microsoft System Centre customers can utilise Lumension's advanced data protection capabilities to centrally deploy, manage, enforce and monitor device access, file transfer and encryption policies while reducing implementation costs. In addition, Lumension has joined Microsoft System Centre Alliance to demonstrate its commitment to providing advanced security solutions for System Centre customers.

With Lumension DCSC, System Centre customers can minimise data leakage by controlling removable storage device usage, preventing unauthorised devices from connecting to the network, automatically encrypting and monitoring critical data, and preventing malware infection via USB devices. Lumension DCSC integrates into the System Centre Configuration Manager 2007 environment, eliminating the need for a separate server console and leveraging already-established system and user groups. This allows faster device/port control deployment, reducing the acquisition and implementation costs related to "server sprawl" and associated training costs.

"Our participation in the Microsoft System Centre Alliance validates our commitment to nurturing and growing this community of innovators," said Rich Hlavka, senior vice president of business development, Lumension. "The majority of data breaches and leaks of sensitive company information today are inside jobs. Through our work with Microsoft, we are extending proven data protection solution on the market to System Centre customers. By doing this, we take away the burden of having users purchase a separate console or adding new administration overhead to the already-stressed IT staff. They can leverage their current investment and add layers of defence to safeguard their crown jewel."

"We are pleased to welcome Lumension to the Microsoft System Centre Alliance, and we are excited about the opportunity to collaborate on future solutions that will benefit System Centre customers," said JD Marymee, director of strategic partner alliances, Management and Services Division at Microsoft Corp. "Our work with Lumension provides our customers with powerful endpoint security options for securing data and ensuring privacy and confidentiality with System Centre."

In conjunction with engaging the Microsoft System Centre ecosystem, Lumension is expanding its channel partner program to include Microsoft partners with System Centre expertise. Lumension DCSC will enable System Centre- partners to provide customers with a new solution to protect their sensitive data in a cost effective manner.
