Cyber Security Training Courses Available From EnCase Developer

Guidance Software : 02 November, 2010  (New Product)
Guidance Software is now offering education on the use of EnCase Cybersecurity and also in the field of ethical hacking to assist in arming IT security professionals with the skills required to offset the increased sophistication of cyber attacks
Guidance Software has announced new training courses designed to arm information technology (IT) and security professionals with the knowledge they need to meet today's security challenges. New training courses include new EnCase Cybersecurity training and a course on ethical hacking.

"Guidance Software is dedicated to providing the world's best training and certification programs to help our customers improve their skills, get the most out their Guidance Software purchase and take hands-on topical courses, such as the new Ethical Hacking course," said Al Hobbs, vice president of Professional Development and Training for Guidance Software. "Guidance Software is committed to offering flexible training options to our global customers. In addition to our state-of-the art training facilities around the world, our staff can bring the training courses to the customer through our EnCase Mobile Training program, and we also offer online on-demand options."

"Guidance Software offers some of the best digital investigations training and certification available," said Martin Siefert, EnCE, EnCEP, CCE, director of E-Discovery & Forensics, Falcon Discovery. "The courses, staff and training material are relevant and have greatly enhanced my professional development and skills. I highly recommend Guidance Software's world-class training services to anyone that desires to take their practice to the next level."

Advanced malware such as a the notorious Stuxnet worm that is targeting industrial systems including manufacturing and power plants using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, illustrates the need for comprehensive cybersecurity incident response capabilities. To help organizations mitigate these threats, reduce data-security non-compliance and risk, and reduce the time associated with resolving security incidents - Guidance Software is introducing a new training course that will teach students:

* the skills to expose zero day threats and other hard to expose advanced hacking techniques, including iterations of morphing malware, injected .dll files, covert root kits, and insider threats — whether inadvertent or malicious

* how to rapidly respond to high priority events and remediate malicious code designed to evade traditional layered security solutions and perimeter defenses

* how to gain total visibility into their data universe in order to understand where and how sensitive data is stored, wipe errant data and improve overall security for the enterprise

This hands-on course is designed to instruct computer investigation and information security professionals' incident analysis and response, data risk mitigation and data policy compliance techniques, using EnCase Cybersecurity software.

The first EnCase Cybersecurity training course will be held December 14, 2010, at Guidance Software headquarters in Pasadena, Calif. Sign up now for the first EnCase Cybersecurity course.

Ethical hacking teaches students how to think like a hacker to find weaknesses and remediate those weaknesses. Bringing together the best of both Ethical Hacking principals as well as IT security forensics best practices, Guidance Software has partnered with the EC-Council to bring its EnCase EnCE Prep class together with the EC-Council's Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH) class—delivering a course for students to learn both sides of the security equation. They'll learn how to think like an attacker, and build the appropriate defenses, as well as how to decipher the evidence after a breach.

Of course there is no foolproof system when it comes to IT security and attackers sometimes find a way in despite a company's best efforts; that's why being able to conduct digital forensic investigations is critical. The EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE) program teaches just that and the certification is widely recognized as the mark of comprehensive forensics knowledge.

The next Certified Ethical Hacker training course will be held in Washington DC, February 7-11, 2011. Sign up now for the next EC-Council's Certified Ethical Hacking class offered by Guidance Software.

For training and certification, practitioners can attend one of Guidance Software's state-of-the-art training facilities located in Los Angeles, Washington DC, London, Chicago, Houston or at authorized training partners throughout the world. Guidance Software also offers courses on-demand through its website and will send training personnel to customer locations for customized training.
