Crowd management expert joins Octavian

Octavian Security : 10 September, 2008  (Company News)
New commercial manager at Octavian has a broad spectrum of experience in event security and crowd safety
Event security and crowd safety specialist Ian Burrows has rejoined the award-winning Octavian Security as commercial manager.

With a wealth of knowledge in this arena, Ian (41) has been tasked with leading the business development team as the company continues to make its name in setting the standards for the security industry, continue the drive for event security work and integrate the various internal departments.

Ian, who was previously a director of Three Counties, acquired by Octavian in 2003, commented: "I have got some great ideas on how we can further improve our client offering and drive growth for Octavian Security.

"The aim is to increase our market share in the event stewarding and security business by providing quality trained and customer-focused staff. Everyone from the youngest child to the oldest pensioner will be treated in the same exemplary and professional way, I am absolutely thrilled to be back with team".

Ian's impressive CV includes his role as a Steward Event Controller of Nottingham's Goose Fair, Europe's largest travelling fair, with around 500,000 visitors attending over the three and half days in October each year.

He has also provided the same service for the Test and One Day international cricket matches at Nottinghamshire's Trent Bridge Cricket Ground.

Octavian security has also produced a full access and egress procedure for Battersea's annual November 5 firework display. In a period of one and a half hours the event welcomed 40,000 paying visitors over the age of 11, with another 20,000 under-11s having free access.

Responding to a brief that said all barriers had to be removed within a 30-minute time so that all of the members of the public could safely exit the event the way they came in, Octavian designed pay lanes utilising crowd control barriers that could be moved quickly.
