CounterACT installation attracts Best Security Deployment award

ForeScout Technologies : 17 September, 2009  (Application Story)
Network Access Control installation at Culpeper County using CounterACT from ForeScout picks up Security Products Guide
ForeScout, a supplier of network access control (NAC) for large government and global enterprise deployments, has announced that Info Security Products Guide has awarded Culpeper County, Virginia, the 2009 Best Deployment Scenario Award for its world class NAC implementation based on the ForeScout CounterACT family of products.

"Our prestigious awards recognise companies and their IT security vendors who help raise the bar in information security through the design and implementation of groundbreaking security solutions," said Rake Narang, editor-in-chief, Info Security Products Guide. "We recognised Culpeper County for utilising ForeScout CounterACT NAC to secure its network and protect sensitive public data."

Culpeper County Government in Virginia is spread across 16 different locations which includes a mix of wired and wireless offices. The county government includes 24 different agencies such as the 911 Emergency Center, EMS, Airport and Sheriff's office. The county selected ForeScout CounterACT for network asset discovery and access control because it plugged into their existing heterogeneous network and began delivering immediate value, without any change to their network infrastructure.

"ForeScout provided Culpeper County with a single powerful device that plugged into our network and instantly helped us shore up our network perimeter, comply with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) regulations, and protect critical government agencies from malware, viruses and cyber threats," said Todd Frazier, Systems Administrator of Culpeper County Government. "With ForeScout CounterACT, Culpeper is able to see every connecting device and user in real time and stamp out any threat that tries to enter our network."
