Consultancy contract for implementing HSPD-12 compliant security.

BearingPoint : 28 February, 2008  (Application Story)
BearingPoint will provide expertise to the department of homeland security in establishing HSPD-12 compliant security systems using biometric ID.
BearingPoint has announced that the Department of Homeland Security has awarded it a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) products and services. BearingPoint is one of three firms awarded a five year BPA, and DHS estimates a total potential value of approximately $180 million for the three contracts.

With services and pricing from BearingPoint's General Services Administration Schedule 70 contract, the BPA will allow DHS agencies to tap into BearingPoint's market leading HSPD-12 expertise at competitive rates, as they seek to comply with HSPD-12 and integrate their legacy logical and physical security systems. Like other federal agencies, DHS executives are working to meet HSPD-12 requirements for issuance of PIV II-compliant identification cards to all contractors and employees.

"Given DHS's role in our nation's security and the fact that they are the largest civilian cabinet level agency, we are very pleased to be awarded this BPA,' said Tab Warlitner, senior vice president for BearingPoint's Public Services Civilian Agency segment. "We have extensive experience setting up and integrating HSPD-12 systems, and we are ready to assist DHS in meeting their mandate."

Warlitner noted that BearingPoint can provide truly end-to-end HSPD-12 integration and consulting services, including program planning and management, change management, training, systems integration, physical and logical access control and software services such as its highly secure Identity Management System and modular, plug-in-based biometric enrollment stations.

This award builds on BearingPoint's broader focus in the areas of risk, compliance and security for both government agencies as well as businesses around the globe. Through the company's Risk, Compliance and Security (RCS) portfolio of services, BearingPoint has supplied end-to-end biometric credentialing solutions to agencies including the General Services Administration and Health and Human Services, and its HSPD-12 solutions have helped issue PIV II credentials to over 40 federal agencies. With more than a decade of experience, BearingPoint's Security & Identity Management practice also helped to develop, implement and oversee the Defense Department's Common Access Card program.
