Congressman To Address Biometrics Conference

IBIA announces that Congressman Gus Bilirakis of Florida will be the featured speaker at its annual reception in Tampa on September 17, 2012, prior to the opening of the Biometric Consortium Conference. Congressman Bilirakis, a senior member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, will provide the group with a Congressional perspective on biometrics and the federal sector.

“The biometrics community represents a vital sector of our economy – one that helps keep us safe, enhances our quality of life and creates American jobs,” said US Congressman Gus Bilirakis. “I would like to thank the IBIA, Cross Match Technologies and all the event sponsors for providing the opportunity to come together to share ideas and forge a common vision for the future. I look forward to continuing to work with our partners and Members of Congress to identify areas of opportunity, so that we can best utilize this innovative and important industry going forward.”

“IBIA is delighted to host this reception for the global biometrics community to network as it gathers at the BCC to discuss the future of the biometrics industry and to meet Congressman Bilirakis, our distinguished speaker from Congress,” said Bob Harbour, President and Chairman of IBIA, and Lumidigm’s Executive Chairman. “Our members look forward to welcoming our guests from around the world and I would like to thank our members for making this reception possible – Cross Match Technologies, Lumidigm, Inc, Lockheed Martin Company, MorphoTrak, Bio-key International and Identity Counsel International.”

“The role of biometrics in the global marketplace continues to expand rapidly,” said David Buckley, President and CEO of Cross Match Technologies, the event’s Identity Management Sponsor.  “It is critical that the industry and our elected officials work together to foster a better understanding of the wide range of benefits biometrics can provide both here at home and around the globe.”
