Comodo chief hails BBC's decision to broadcast botnet demonstration

Comodo Group : 20 March, 2009  (Company News)
Comodo's Chief Security Architect applauds the BBC's decision to demonstrate botnet tactic on the Corporation's Click TV programme.
'Well done, BBC!' declared Melih Abdulhayoglu, about the British broadcasting network's permitting its programme, Click, to demonstrate how susceptible computers on the Internet are to malicious software.

While others criticize the computing show's decision to hire a live Botnet to show how easily computers could be hijacked, Abdulhayoglu cheered it. Programmers paid by the BBC wrote software instructing 22,000 PCs that had been infected with malware to send emails without their owners' awareness.

'This is a good use of taxpayer money,' said Abdulhayoglu, who is CEO and Chief Security Architect of Comodo, a leader in Internet security products. Abdulhayoglu noted that the publicly-funded BBC had informed its viewers about the potential dangers of the Internet.
