Common criteria certification for OpenTrust PKI

OpenTrust : 30 July, 2009  (Company News)
OpenTrust has been awarded common criteria certification for its PKI solution from French Information Security Agency
OpenTrust has been awarded the Common Criteria Level 3+ certification for OpenTrust PKI.

OpenTrust has worked for over a year to complete the Common Criteria Certification process, undergoing extensive product security testing by the OPPIDA, an official Common Criteria Information Technologies Security Evaluation Facility. This certification, awarded by the prestigious French ANSSI (French National Agency for the Security of Information Systems) demonstrates OpenTrust's commitment to comply with the most stringent security standards.

Common Criteria is an internationally recognised framework for evaluating the security features and capabilities of Information Technology solutions. Today, through the Common Criteria Recognition Agreement (CCRA), Common Criteria certificates are recognised in over 25 countries, including the United States. The EAL levels, specific to products, are used to check that the security claims made by vendors are correct and that the products adhere to strict regulatory standards that guard against threats to Information Technology systems.

Common Criteria certification fortifies the OpenTrust Trust group of products, providing additional reassurance for customers. The certified product officially meets or exceeds the strict security criteria while remaining true to OpenTrust's mission of trusted transactions for any users, devices or networks.

Organisations protecting mission-critical assets and security-conscious government agencies around the globe are increasingly using Common Criteria Certification as a determining factor when making procurement decisions.

"OpenTrust continues to invest significant resources to ensure the highest levels of product security for customers," said Sherley Brothier, VP R&D at OpenTrust. "In line with our core mission of building secure sets of products, OpenTrust has reinforced its strategic solutions by meeting the globally recognised security standards associated with Common Criteria certification."

According to Patrick Pailloux, head of the ANSSI, "OpenTrust PKI recognition by IT security experts, according to the common criteria guidelines, is a great achievement and a valuable indication of the security implementation at product level".
