Veracode provides insight to the risks of commercially available software during presentation at InfoSecurity Europe |
|
Sam King, Senior VP of Product Strategy and Marketing at Veracode spoke at Infosecurity Europe as well as exhibiting at the event at booth G20, showcasing its application security-as-a-service platform.
Ms King's session, titled ‘The Risk in your Supply Chain: Measuring the Security of Commercial Software’ examined the risk posed to businesses by security flaws in externally developed software code. The vast majority of deployed software is purchased from commercial software companies, but research by Veracode has shown that the majority of commercial software applications fail to meet acceptable security quality on first test.
Using the latest research, exclusive to Veracode, the session analysed the risks, such as backdoors and other vulnerabilities, asked what industries are most impacted, and discussed what steps businesses could take to ensure a higher degree of protection – such as knowing what security areas to consider when purchasing commercial software, and establishing a third party risk programme. |
