Combined T&A and access contrl for North Carolina medical centre.

API Software : 26 February, 2008  (Application Story)
Medical centre in Halifax to be equipped with integrated time and attendance and access control for workforce management and ensuring the security of the facility.
API software has announced that Halifax Regional Medical Centre, a 206-bed acute care community medical centre based in Roanoke Rapids, NC, has chosen API's Payrollmation system for time and attendance automation and API's SecurALL system for access control.

"We were looking for a way to further streamline the management of employee information across the organisation," said Robert Gordon, director of information systems at Halifax Regional Medical Centre. "At the same time, we wanted to enhance the physical security of our facility for our patients and staff."

The Payrollmation system simplifies the process of collecting and calculating employee time and attendance information across the healthcare enterprise. It gives managers real-time access to the workforce data they need to proactively control labor costs and applies complex pay policies consistently throughout the organisation. Employees can use the system to review their timecard information and to verify its accuracy.

The SecurALL system tracks and regulates right of entry throughout a healthcare facility, in real-time, using programmable badge readers. With the system, hospitals can assign employee schedules at the individual, unit or facility level, contributing to a safer, more controlled environment for both patients and staff. It can also be used to conduct security reviews for internal audits or to track access to areas that house sensitive information, such as the medical records department. The SecurALL system also provides power-over-Ethernet capabilities, eliminating the need to run dedicated electrical power lines for employee badge readers.

"We selected API because we could see that both systems offered a smooth, transparent interface with our existing payroll/HR solution," said Gordon. "In addition, we've had a positive experience with API, both during implementation and while using their products."

The two new systems will integrate with API's Navigator payroll/HR system, already in place at Halifax Regional. The Navigator system helps organizations efficiently manage and verify employment applications, payroll, benefits and other personnel data. Together, the systems will enhance Halifax Regional's reporting capabilities and minimize the need for manual processes.

"We're proud that Halifax Regional has expanded its partnership with API," said Luis Garcia, president and chief executive officer of API. "With these two new systems, Halifax Regional will improve its performance, enhance the workplace for its staff and improve its service to patients."
