CNET Network award for Scansafe

ScanSafe : 26 September, 2008  (New Product)
Software-as-a-service security vendor recognised as supplying the security product of the year at the CNET network awards
ScanSafe has announced that it's Anywhere+ solution was named security product or service of the year 2008 by CNET Networks beating out finalists including Websense and MessageLabs. Anywhere+ is the world's first SaaS Web security providing real-time protection from malware and enforcement of acceptable Internet usage policies for all users surfing the Web regardless of their location.

The CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards celebrate the greatest achievements of the UK's business technology innovators, leaders and doers, and has become one of the most sought-after accolades for those involved in business and technology in the UK.

"Winning this prestigious award cements our place as the pioneer of SaaS Web Security and is a great vote of confidence in our role as innovators within the security industry," said Eldar Tuvey, CEO at ScanSafe. "We are delighted to have been recognized by CNET Networks."

Previous research from ScanSafe found that roaming employees are five times more likely to access inappropriate content on the road than in the office putting employers at risk of legal liability and exposure to malware. An analysis of 8 billion Web requests processed by the company in March this year confirms that roaming workers visit pornography sites 2.5 times more than their colleagues in the office and illegal file sharing sites 8.5 times more.

The judges of the CNET awards commented "With security within the enterprise still causing headaches, extending protection to the mobile workforce is often an agony too far. Delivering security-as-a-service through mobile connectivity, ScanSafe has an answer that is a very good fit to the way people actually work."

ScanSafe's suite of services includes Web Malware Scanning, Web Filtering, IM Control and Anywhere+. These unique services deliver complete security and control over Web and IM by scanning traffic in real-time and blocking malware and unwanted content before it reaches the corporate network. In addition, ScanSafe provides businesses with easy-to-use tools to create, enforce and monitor Web and IM use and protect their networks from unwanted content. ScanSafe's solutions require no hardware, no upfront capital costs and no maintenance. As a result, customers typically experience a 30 to 40 percent savings over hardware solutions.

All of ScanSafe's solutions are powered by Outbreak IntelligenceTM, a unique, multi-layered combination of threat detection technology that includes leading third party anti-virus engines and proprietary heuristics. Unlike other solutions which rely on URL databases to identify malicious sites, ScanSafe scans all Web requests in real time, so customers receive comprehensive protection from all threats, including threats that appear before an anti-virus signature is available.
