Cloud based strong authentication wins BCS Award

CryptoCard : 27 November, 2009  (New Product)
CryptoCard's two-factor authentication for cloud based services gathers an award from the British Computer Society
The value of bringing the Software-as-a-Service concept to the world of password protection has been underlined with CryptoCard's latest success at the UK IT Industry Awards 2009, co-sponsored by the British Computer Society.

CryptoCard's Crypto-Mas Passwords-as-a-Service two-factor authentication ((2FA)) solution was awarded the Silver Medal in the Information Security Product of the Year category, for its combination of 'best practice, innovation and excellence'. "We are delighted to win this prestigious award," says CryptoCard CEO, Neil Hollister, "as it provides powerful independent endorsement of our continuing industry leadership, as the first company to deliver the benefits of Cloud Computing to authentication."

David Clarke, CEO of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, confirms: "This year's Awards have been exceptional and I witnessed first hand the quality of winners and medalists. To qualify as a finalist is terrific and provides examples of best practice but also demonstrates how IT is enabling today's information society, from entertainment to healthcare, manufacturing to retail."

The award comes hard on the heels of the launch of CryptoCard's aggressive swap-out campaign, designed to persuade existing users of competitive solutions, as well as new users, to switch to Crypto-Mas. As part of this, CryptoCard's total cost of ownership (TCO) white paper demonstrates how dramatic savings of up to 60 per cent can be achieved by adopting Crypto-Mas cloud-based authentication.

"Our new Migration Agent service makes it easy for users to swap out a user's existing token estate on a phased basis, making the switch to Crypto-Mas seamless and hassle-free. For us, this Award underlines our belief that the Passwords-as-a-Service concept is transforming the (2FA) market, by making strong authentication available and affordable to every business."

The BCS Award adds to CryptoCard's growing reputation for innovation in both technology and service provision. Other recent recognition includes the TechWorld Innovative Product of the Year 2008 for CryptoCard's SMS password tokens and the Network Computing Managed Service Provider of the Year 2009 Award for its Crypto-Mas service.

Ian Kilpatrick, chairman at VAD Wick Hill says: "All our recent experience reinforces the view that (2FA) will continue to be a strong growth area, as remote working and unauthorised access threats drive migration from inadequate and insecure traditional passwords. The BCS Award for Crypto-Mas highlights CryptoCard's leadership in giving businesses of all sizes the confidence to embrace the efficiencies and economic benefits of remote access in a fully secure way."
