Chemical Identification System Library Expanded to Over 7500 Items

Ahura Scientific : 19 February, 2010  (New Product)
TruDefender and FirstDefender from Ahura Scientific offer emergency services personnel the ability to identify a wide range of hazardous materials and chemicals including narcotics and pharmaceuticals as well as combinations of materials
Ahura Scientific has announced the availability of TruDefender FT version 1.2, which now features more than 7,500 pure substances in the instrument's onboard library. The TruDefender FT library has more than quadrupled in size in just one year, enabling more pure chemicals and millions of potential mixture combinations to be identified.

TruDefender FT v1.2 includes additions in all chemical categories, most notably chemical intermediates, industrial chemicals, narcotics, laboratory reagents and pharmaceuticals. The TruDefender FT library is specifically developed by Ahura Scientific and optimised for the product's sophisticated software algorithms. By managing library development internally and adding only the highest-quality spectra with rigorous quality controls, Ahura Scientific can provide its customers with the industry's most accurate material identification system including completely automatic analysis of mixtures, reducing reliance on spectral subtraction and subjective evaluation.

"As new chemical threats emerge, it's important for law enforcement, military and first responders to have the tools needed to immediately analyse a situation and respond accordingly," said Doug Kahn, chairman and CEO of Ahura Scientific. "With this announcement, we demonstrate our continued support to our customers by equipping them with the most up-to-date library of potentially harmful substances they may encounter while in the field."

Ahura Scientific's chemical and explosives identification products are deployed worldwide by US and foreign military organizations as well as national and regional law enforcement agencies and hazmat teams. The company's FirstDefender (Raman) and TruDefender FT (FTIR) products offer comprehensive solutions for field-based identification of solid and liquid chemicals.

The TruDefender FT v1.2 software package is now available to all Ahura Scientific customers with active support contracts, which include software and library updates, hardware warranty, and 24/7 customer support for around-the-clock access to Ahura Scientific's technical team.
