CheckReader adapted to meet Colombian banking market

A2iA : 03 December, 2008  (New Product)
Machine printed and hand-written script on cheques conforming to Columbian banking standards now recognizable with A2iA's CheckReader
A2iA CheckReader now delivers automatic recognition of written and machine printed data within Colombian checks. This key development features adapted IWR (Intelligent Word Recognition) engines to read the unique writing styles and document formats of Colombian check and deposit slip images.

Through the promotion of Colombia's government, check imaging is becoming more widely used and is now administered through the National Interbank Electronic Compensation System (ACH-CENIT) via BanRep. As a result, financial institutions, service bureaus and clearing houses are demanding tools to automate the processing of checks and deposit slips.

The latest version of A2iA CheckReader has been developed to accurately read the compulsory fields from Colombian checks and deposit slips including: courtesy amount (CAR), legal amount (LAR) and the MICR code line. With the deployment of this new version A2iA now supports 4 Latin American, country specific check locales: Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.

"We are continually tailoring A2iA CheckReader to meet the evolving needs of financial institutions across the globe," said Jean-Louis Fages, A2iA's chairman of the board and CEO. "This latest country version development for Colombia is proof of our commitment in bringing pioneering technology to Latin America".
