Charity travel organisation chooses travel risk intelligence service

Anvil Group : 28 October, 2008  (Application Story)
The Anvil Group will supply its travel risk intelligence service for the safety and security of travellers using the services of Key Travel which specialises in not-for-profit organisations.
The Anvil Group, a specialist in crisis avoidance services, has announced that Key Travel, a travel management company specialising in the not-for-profit sector, has chosen its Employee Travel Monitoring Solution (ETMS) and Travel Risk Intelligence Service (TRIS) to provide safety and security solutions to aid workers positioned around the world.

Key Travel specialises in the not-for-profit sector and works with several high profile organisations such as Oxfam, Save the Children and WWF. Key Travel required a solution that would empower its clients to monitor global traveller movements, to ensure that safety and security policies were met. Aid workers often travel to potentially volatile locations, so it is essential that Key Travel have the tools in place to provide its clients with up to date risk information in order to alert travellers with relevant information as and when it occurs.

Historically, traveller monitoring solutions were only available to large corporations. However, the increase in global business travel combined with new legislation such as the Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act has made this facility a necessity for organisations with real-time travellers, so travel agencies must provide it. The ETMS from The Anvil Group provides:.

* The real time monitoring of Air, rail and hotel only reservations
* Monitoring of Pre, Active and Post trip movement phases
* A Document library for the centralised storage of critical information
* Inbuilt crisis communication modules through email and SMS alert messaging
* Automated pre-trip travel security briefings for travellers
* Audit trail of communications

TRIS is used to create Risk Manager and Travel Manager profiles that will automatically distribute the detail of risks by alert messages, should an incident or threat be identified that matches the profile. When TRIS is utilised in conjunction with ETMS, an automatic 'threat vs. traveller' cross check can be performed, alerting managers if travellers are in the immediate area of threat.

"When a third sector organisation books travel directly with an airline or through a discount website, travel managers have no control over travel bookings and therefore often do not know where their employees are, which could have serious implications," says Key Travel Managing Director, Ajay Sodha. "The Anvil Group's Risk Management solutions available through Key Travel will allow travel managers to successfully enforce a travel policy by monitoring people's whereabouts and comparing these with the associated risk level. We will assist Travel Managers to fulfil their duty of care obligations."

The Anvil Group's ETMS and TRIS allows the identification of any traveller making a reservation to a destination that is deemed to be high risk. Additionally traveller destinations are monitored 24/7 to identify any incidents or threats that could put travellers at risk. Organisations will also gain information on embassies and any documents needed to work and stay in a country, a service which would take a lot of time if done manually.

"It is important for the not-for-profit sector to have access to robust travel Risk Management solutions such as our ETMS and TRIS when planning and booking travel as the majority of organisations want to travel to areas of the globe where they are providing aid, and the situations are often volatile and require constant monitoring ," explains The Anvil Group Director, Matthew Judge. "Whether it is political instability, social unrest, adverse weather or security or medical situations, TRIS enables organisations to assess and monitor the level of threat to aid workers in the region and put in place appropriate risk mitigation and management procedures."
