Central access control system for different locking mechanisms

Kaba Ltd : 11 May, 2009  (New Product)
Cable free mechatronic door access control with Kaba exos 9300 bringing card based authentication and control to wider applications
Central access control system for different locking mechanisms
Kaba exos 9300 is an integrated system platform for all requirements of access control and time management. The new release 2.2 now manages all the doors and access points of an organisation, irrespective of whether they are secured by mechanical, mechatronic or electronic means. Users can see all the access rights issued in a system at one glance.

The innovative CardLink concept is part of Kaba exos 9300 and links mechatronic locking systems with the on-line world of access control. This means that doors can be integrated in an electronic access control system without any cabling. The access authorisations are written onto the employee badges using a reader. The doors are fitted with a mechatronic (digital) locking device rather than a mechanical cylinder lock or fittings. This checks whether the card is valid and releases the door if the person is authorised to pass through. The door does not need any additional components to do this, nor does it require cabling. All components - the online readers such as CardLink stand-alone components - are configured and managed within the Kaba exos 9300 system. Independently of the type of access points, daily administration such as adding a new employee, changing the access authorisation, managing forgotten or lost badges, issuing visitor cards etc. can be completed in one processing step. Thanks to the innovative CardLink update mechanism, the users will receive their modified access rights simply and quickly at an online reader and carry them on their personal identification medium to the CardLink stand-alone components. You can also use the same medium for other applications such as time recording, biometrics, canteen and vending applications.

After the successful merger of the mechatronics components with the on-line world using the innovative CardLink concept, Kaba is taking the next logical step with a module to seamlessly manage mechanical locking systems within the Kaba exos system: The new module permits the allocation of mechanical authorisations (keys) to persons already administered in the system. Integrated queries are thus possible for online as well as mechatronic and mechanical secured passageways. Who has a key to the meeting room? Didn't Mr Schmid have access to the warehouse? Kaba exos 9300 gives an integrated reply to questions like these.

A well thought through security concept for access control can no longer be undermined by keys circulating in an uncontrolled manner. The everyday processes for issuing or returning mechanical keys are ideally supported by the system by means of practice oriented functions such as deposit administration, receipt printing or reminder functions. Reliable logging means that it is clear who held which keys when.
